The Stoneage Chronicles

Yeah, so I got home from work yesterday, anxious to get busy with my little hunter. My girlfriend (yes, I do have one, be amazed at my uber-coolness) came over, we watched a movie and that was that. Then, when I was about to double-click the W icon on my desktop, poof! No more electricity. It's all dark and I'm like... WTF?! My UPS started beeping like mad so I had to do an emergency shut down procedure (hah!). I opened another beer and lit a cigarette, waiting for a miracle. Well, don't believe in miracles, 'cause apparently they don't happen very often. That's how I managed to fall asleep sometime after 9PM.

That's why I have no progress to show. Will be back later with some stuff. That's it for now. See ya!

The Icecrown Citadel

Well, I wanted to do a post on the Icecrown Citadel last week, but I didn't know what to think of it. I'm doing it now, but I still have no idea if I like it or not.

So, it'll be (probably) the final encounter in WotLK. It's Arthas. It's Ner'zhul. It's the Lich King. I dunno, but I think it should be something to blow our minds off. Maybe a 40-player raid or something. Instead, they're making it playable as either a Dungeon, or a 10/25 player raid. This is where I say WTF?!

OK, so most of us mature WoW players have been playing Warcraft games since we were kids. We saw the evolution of races, the birth of new ones. We saw Arthas as a Paladin going mad, sacrificing a friend to get Frostmourne. We saw him kill his own father and we saw him merging with Ner'zhul to become the Lich King. Great, he IS the ultimate antagonist WoW has to offer. Now, with 3 expansions left to go (if the leaked info is right about that), you're opening the door to the Icecrown Citadel, and you're actually gonna let me see (and possibly kill) him in a 5-man Group? This is where I say BULLSHIT!

Vanilla WoW was a totally different game than what it has become now. It was difficult, leveling was a bitch, raiding was a serious thing with 40-man instances and stuff like that. All of that is gone now. We have Dungeons and Heroics for 5-man parties. I can understand that. There are a bunch of people that just don't enjoy raiding. So they got Heroics. Cool! But then we have Naxxramas which used to be one of the best things you could experience in a game. It's become a 10/25 man raid in eastern Dragonblight. Most guilds don't even bother doing Naxx now, other guilds are farming it like there's no tomorrow.

Then came Ulduar. And I said: now there's something worth my money. Strategic planning required and all, Ulduar is a nice experience for all players. And I thought "if Ulduar is THAT cool, I can imagine when they're actually gonna release Arthas... it'll totally rock the World of Warcraft". Yeah, sure... as a 5-man Dungeon thingie.

Ok, Ok, I know it'll be a 10/25 man raid, too. But still... what's up with 5-manning Arthas? That's what I want to know. Well, you can understand my frustration (I hope)... I look forward to whatever Blizz has to throw at us, just make it feel good... or else!

My leveling Build

Just so you know, I'm using BRK's leveling Build, as I find it very well balanced overall. It also suits my playing style. I'm level 24 (almost 25 actually) right now, doing quests in Ashenvale / Stonetalon Mountains, and using a kitty for obvious reasons. What to do next? Now there's a question for you...

Achievements Continued (2)

I know I promised more Achievements soon. I got 5 of 'em yesterday, forgot to post. Sorry! Here they are now...

My first 100 Quests. Impressive =)

This is one Achievement I'm very proud of. Doing it before I even got to level 20 is actually quite cool.

And then I got to level 20, I finished all the quests in the Draenei starting area, so I got the Tabard... aaand I also got my first mount. The... Elekk thingie. No, it's not the Pink one. It's the Grey one. Thank you very much.

PS: I know the last three are poor quality, it's 'cause of the low resolution I use at work (yes, I do play WoW at work ^^).

First achievements

Like I said, I’m back with the first three Achievement screenies.

First achievement: getting to level 10. Great, only 70 levels left…

Second achievement: completed 50 Quests. Oh boy…

Next achievement: Professional Journeyman. Oh yeah, copper mining FTW!

There will be more, soon! I’m a fast leveler, tho’ I wish I had more time to play the game. Getting achievements is one of my hobbies, I enjoy having tons of ‘em. Getting to 80 fast is my top priority however. Wish me luck!

A new beginning...

Last week I thought: Hey, I’m kinda bored playing my DK and my Warlock. I gotta try something else. And I really wanted to go Cloth. Well, maybe Leather if we’re thinking Druid. After much deliberation, I found my answer: Hunter! I know, I know… you’re all gonna say “lol rofl omfgz huntard noobz0rz” and all that crap. Well, FU! For me, Hunter is a very fun class to play. Next tough choices were: Alliance or Horde and of course… which race...

I was about to flip a coin for the Alliance vs Horde part. Then I thought… I hate Alliance, I’ve been playing Horde for most of my time in WoW. That’s settled then… Alliance it is. Next! Race. This was a tough one. I’ve always loved Warcraft Dwarves. They look cool, have great /silly quotes… Hmm… no! This time I won’t flip any coins. So I went on to WoWWiki to read about racials.
  • Night-Elf: Shadowmeld… don’t really care much for being (kind of) invisible. Quickness is kinda cool (2% reduced chance to be hit by melee and ranged). Wisp spirit pffft! I don’t plan on dying too often. Nature resistance (2% obvious effect) not really that useful for me.
  • Dwarf: Coolness (I know, not a racial, but anyway…). Stoneform used to be “tha bomb” but it’s just some other racial trait now. Gun specia… oh wait, I hate Gunz. Mace specialization… did you ever see a Hunter use maces? Frost resistance (2% again)… nah. Find treasure… WTF?! Woah, I can see treasure chests on teh minimap.
  • Draenei: Gift of the Naaru is a cool HoT. Hunter with the ability to heal, that’s cool. Gemcutting isn’t really all that great since I actually hate Jewelcrafting. I know it’s a cool profession but it’s really not my thing. Shadow resistance sounds a lot better than Nature or Frost. And to top it all, there’s Heroic Presence. I mean… that has to be “the one racial” everyone wants in a raid or instance.
You can figure it out yourself I’m now a fresh Draenei Hunter. Of course, since the males are kinda… uhm… well they look like they were ment to be Warriors or Paladins or something along these lines. So, yeah. I’m a Female Draenei Hunter. I’m already at level 13 now, growing fast! I’ll post every single achievement I earned so far and the ones I’ll get in my adventures in the World of Warcraft.

This is the first of many pages in a WoW Hunter’s Log. I’ll try to post as often as possible and keep you all informed on my progress. Wish me luck and if you have any kind of advice for me, feel free to comment.

Yours truly, Roth.
